  HEUMATOLOGY - TREATMENTS

The 21-day therapy includes 18 pelotherapy treatments (thermal mud applications), drink therapy (diuretic and laxative effect), 18 sprinkle showers possibly followed by a session in an individual sauna cabin. The therapy also includes a maximum of 36 hyperthermal water-based treatments and may be supplemented with underwater massages (9 sessions maximum). Only the spa doctor you consult with upon arrival is authorized to prescribe the various treatments according to your case.

PELOTHERAPY

MUD APPLICATIONS + RAIN SHOWERS
Localized or generalized, they are prescribed by the spa doctor for problems involving the spine, shoulders, joints and pre- and post-operative traumatisms. Patients with varicose veins who cannot tolerate general can still fully benefit from a localized treatment. The guest lies down on a bed of mud and mud is applied to joints as indicated by the spa doctor. The mud temperature varies from 38 to 44° and the treatment lasts 12 to 16 mn (according to prescription). The applications are followed by a sprinkle shower and, depending on the case, a sauna session and/or jet shower.

hyperthermal water-based treatments

PHYSICAL THERAPY

UNDERWATER MASSAGES
The guest lies down on a massage table. A certified physical therapist gives massages under thermal jets.

HIGH PRESSURE SHOWERS
In a thermal pool, the guest is placed in front of an underwater jet with adjustable direction and strength. This jet churns the water, which relaxes muscles.

PHYSICAL THERAPY IN A THERMAL POOL
Conducted under the supervision and guidance of a certified physical therapist-masseur, in 34° water.

HYDROTHERAPY

Combined with pelotherapy, hyperthermal water complements the therapy's benefits and helps relax muscles. Depending on the depth of the massage desired, the following treatments may be used:

THERMAL BATHS:
(in rare cases when applications are not easily tolerated): thermal baths where water circulates continually - Time: 10 to 15 min - Temperature: 36 to 38°

GENERAL JET SHOWERS:
Following the mud application, the guest is showered using a variable pressure jet.

WHIRLPOOL BATHS
These are pure thermal baths, with streams of bubbles. They relax muscles and encourage drainage in the lower limbs.

HYDROMASSAGES or jet baths
These are thermal baths with variable pressure thermal jets. Hydromassages are excellent for muscular relaxation.

  TURPENTINE SHOWERS
A mixture of thermal water and turpentine sprayed on painful spots. These showers are very effective on neuralgia and on the aftereffects of shingles.
  LOCALIZED STEAM SESSIONS
The guest's feet and hands are placed in a steam basin and subjected to a stream of thermal steam.
  THERMAL SHOWERS (or underwater showers)
They have an anti-spasm effect on muscles. The pressure varies according to the muscles involved.
The Rheumatology therapy is often combined with Phlebology therapy.
